What happens after you call

1. A short conversation

We ask what you have in mind, how the house sits on the lot and whether a structure is already there. If anything sounds dangerous we say so on that call and ask you to keep people clear of it until we have looked.

2. A site visit

We measure the house, check the threshold height at each door and the drop across the yard, walk the route a crew and a delivery will use, and locate the gas meter, the outside tap and the dryer vent. Where a deck already stands we get below it, because that is where the truth about the frame lives. This normally happens within a few days.

3. Options and a written scope

Two or three layouts at different figures, each listing materials by brand and product line, the framing schedule, fasteners, railing profile, number of steps, dates and price. If your address requires an architectural or association submission, that package is included. None of it costs anything and none of it commits you.

4. Permit, then build

We prepare the framing drawings and file them with the authority that governs your address, then begin once approval arrives. On the Hamilton County side that can mean a separate earthwork or grading permit when the deck sits on a slope, because excavation, retaining and drainage are reviewed apart from the building permit itself. Allow one to three weeks for the permit, and in a Mason or West Chester subdivision expect a further cycle for association sign off.

We operate as a service area business covering Cincinnati andGreater Cincinnati, so we come to you and there is no showroom to visit. Sample boards travel in the truck to the site visit, which is the better arrangement in any case: a composite colour looks quite different lying on your own grass in Ohio light than it does beneath warehouse lamps.

Areas we cover

Best time to get on the schedule

Spring goes first, because everyone telephones during the same three weeks of March and April. Late summer and autumn are normally the fastest way onto the calendar: the soil digs more readily, materials arrive sooner, and you enter winter with the structure finished instead of waiting behind a queue for the next one.

If your project needs design review, open the conversation in winter. It is that committee calendar, not ours, which sets the start date.

Why homeowners pick Cincinnati Custom Decks

  • Footings below the frost line

The Ohio River valley swings above and below freezing all winter. Every post we set lands on a poured footing below the local frost depth, which is what keeps a deck level through a decade of heave and thaw.

  • Permits and inspections handled

We work out which department your address answers to, pull the permit, meet the inspector and hand you the signed card. An unpermitted deck becomes your problem the day you sell the house.

  • Written scope before we start

Materials, framing spec, hardware, timeline and price in writing before anybody swings a hammer. No verbal change orders.
